UPDATE (with Correction): Bomb Squad Responding to Southwest Portland (Photo)

The Metropolitan Explosive Device Unit responded to Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest Jefferson Street and determined the item that was believed to be suspicious is not dangerous.

Officers are leaving the area and normal vehicle and pedestrian traffic should resume shortly.



On Thursday August 10, 2017, at 2:37 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a suspicious device near Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest Main Street.

The Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit is responding to the scene to assess and render safe the item that was located.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be closed on Southwest 10th Avenue from Southwest Jefferson Street to Southwest Taylor Street. There will also be a closure on Southeast Main Street between Southwest Park Avenue and Interstate 405. Traffic will be affected for the next one to two hours as members of the Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit investigate and render the item safe.

Members of the public should stay away from the immediate area.
