UPDATE: East Precinct Officers Respond to Report of Suspicious Device (Photo)

The Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit (MEDU) has concluded their on-scene investigation.

They found several explosive devices which they have rendered safe.

Investigators with the MEDU believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community.

Traffic on Southeast Division Street near Southeast 117th Ave re-opened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic at 5:14 p.m.

Anyone who locates an object they believe to be suspicious and may be an explosive should contact the Portland Police Bureau at 9-1-1. Do not touch the item.



On Wednesday August 9, 2017, at 4:02 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a suspicious device in the parking lot of Whistle Stop Trains, located at 11724 Southeast Division Street.

The Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit is responding to the scene to assess and render safe the item that was located.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be closed on Southeast Division Street between Southeast 115th Avenue and Southeast 119th Avenue. Traffic will be affected for the next 30 minutes to one hour as members of the Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit investigate and render the item safe.

Members of the public should stay away from the immediate area.
