Serious Crash causes Life-Threatening Injuries closes Hwy 47 (Photo)

August 5, 2017 - Today, a man driving a mini-cooper ran a stop sign on SW Porter Road where it intersects with Highway 47. The car was struck by cross traffic and severely damaged. A passenger in the Mini Cooper suffered life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, August 05, 2017, at 10:09 a.m., Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a serious crash at the intersection of Highway 47 and SW Porter Road, north of the City of Forest Grove in unincorporated Washington County.

Deputies arrived and found three vehicles involved in the crash. Fire crews had to extricate two people from a Mini Cooper, the 34-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital by Lifeflight. Deputies closed Hwy. 47 for several hours during the investigation.

Deputies investigating the crash determined that the Silver Mini Cooper Countrymen ran the stop sign at SW Porter Road and entered the Westbound lane. It was struck by a Ford Escape and then entered the eastbound lane where it was struck by a Ford Expedition. People in the other cars suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, Corey Jenon Wade (31 years old from Beaverton,) had a felony warrant for a probation violation. He was arrested on the warrant after being checked out at the hospital. Witnesses who observed Mr. Wade's driving indicated that he was illegally passing cars and speeding prior to the crash.

Deputies are still investigating the crash and have not determined if any criminal charges will be filed. They are asking for the public's help, if anyone witnessed the crash or Mr. Cooper's driving prior to the crash please call the Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111.
