Portland Police Investigate Tuesday Night Shooting at Dawson Park

PORTLAND POLICE INVESTIGATE TUESDAY NIGHT SHOOTING AT DAWSON PARK

On Tuesday August 8, 2017, at 10:25 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Dawson Park, located at 2926 North Williams Avenue, on the report of gunfire.

When officers arrived they located evidence of gunfire and spoke to several witnesses. While interviewing witnesses, officers learned there were multiple people in the park when a subject pointed and fired a handgun at the crowd. Based on witness statements, officers believe one person may have been struck by gunfire. At this time no gunshot victim has been located.

Investigators with the Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operations Division's Gang Violence Response Team (GVRT) have taken over the investigation.

Anyone with information about gun crimes in the City of Portland is encouraged to provide information to the Portland Police Bureau's Tactical Operations Division at 503-823-4106 or email information to gangs@portlandoregon.gov.

Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects.

Tips on gun crimes can be emailed to GunTaskForce@portlandoregon.gov.

If you see a gun crime in progress, call 9-1-1.
