PF&R Responds to a Second Alarm Fire (11100 E Burnside St)

News Release from Portland Fire & Rescue
Posted on FlashAlert: August 9th, 2017 7:32 AM
8/9/2017 3:30 AM-This morning firefighters were called to an apartment on fire at 11100 E Burnside St. When fire crews arrived they found fire burning in a single apartment and spreading into the attic. The incident commander called for a second alarm to ensure that adequate resources would be available.

Firefighters searched for trapped occupants while they worked to extinguish the fire. A down power line made accessing the fire difficult for a time. The power company arrived and made the line safe. The burning apartment was vacant and no one was injured in this fire, however 13 people have been displaced. Those who need help will be assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire was extinguished quickly and a fire investigator was called to determine the cause of this fire. East Burnside St. was closed to vehicle traffic (including MAX trains) for a time because firefighters had to lay hose across the tracks.

This release will be updated with any new information as it becomes available.
