ODOT: PDX, Mt. Hood

ODOT: PDX, Mt. Hood: All lanes and exit ramps of Interstate 5 southbound near Killingsworth (milepost 303) are back open at this hour, after a crash this morning spilled about 2,000 gallons of a mixture of water and recycled cooking oil onto the road. ODOT maintenance crews spread kitty litter over the spill to sop it up, and then used a street sweeper to pick up the mess. Some of the very smelly fluid drained into the sewer system. We used a Vactor machine to suck it back out. At this time, we believe we've caught the fluid before it could reach the Oregon Slough. Drivers will experience a slightly sandy road surface in the area; we laid down a final coating of slight sand to improve traction. (And hopefully help reduce the nasty smell!)
