Fatal Crash Investigation Underway on East Burnside Street -- Traffic #Alert

On Sunday August 6, 2017, at 4:10 p.m., East Precinct and Transit Division officers responded to the report of a crash involving a vehicle and TriMet MAX train near East Burnside Street at Southeast 99th Avenue.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and found the driver, and only occupant of the involved vehicle, deceased. Preliminary information suggests no TriMet MAX passengers were injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team has responded to conduct an investigation.

East Burnside Street is closed in both directions from Southeast 97th Avenue to Southeast 102nd Avenue. Southeast 99th Avenue is closed north and south of East Burnside Street. TriMet Blue Line service is disrupted in the area. TriMet ridership should visit to learn information about the service disruption. Vehicle traffic and TriMet service is expected to be impacted for the next four hours as the investigation continues.
