BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The city of Beaverton and Washington County will celebrate the completion of the Farmington Road project with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Eichler Park, 13710 SW Farmington Road (Farmington Road and Menlo Drive).

Local businesses and residents along the construction route are invited to join Mayor Denny Doyle, Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten, District 4, project partners, contractors and other elected officials to celebrate the completion of the project.

The joint project between Beaverton and Washington County included:

*Widening Farmington Road to five lanes (two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane) between Murray Boulevard and Hocken Avenue
*Installation bicycle lanes, sidewalks and street lighting
*Realignment of 141st and 142nd avenues
*Upgrades to water and sanitary sewer lines

"Thank you to the residents and businesses for their patience while we completed this project," said Mayor Doyle. "Together with the County, we were not only able to make improvements to this busy road, but we were also able to upgrade our infrastructure below the road. It's exciting to see this two-year project come to completion."

The $24.1 million project was funded through Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Beaverton funded $2.7 million for water and sanitary sewer line upgrades. K&E Excavating managed the construction of the improvements.
