Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate a single vehicle fatal motor vehicle crash involving a dump truck, about six miles north of Corvallis. The crash resulted in the death of a Salem man.

At about 1:33 pm, on Friday, August 4, 2017, Gary Henderson, from Salem, Oregon, was driving north on Highway 99W, about 300 feet south of Tampico Road, in a 2005 Peterbuilt Dump Truck. A rear tire malfunctioned and blew apart, causing the Gary Henderson to lose control of the dump truck. It flipped onto its side and came to rest on both lanes of Highway 99W. He was extricated from the dump truck by the Adair Village and Corvallis Fire Departments. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis by an ambulance from the Corvallis Fire Department with serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital several hours later.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash and the public is asked to contact Deputy Daniel Ball at 541-766-6858 if they have any information. The roadway was closed for about two hours. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted on scene.
