###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###

The Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help to locate a missing 12-year-old girl.

Mary Elizabeth Coit is described as a black female, 5'4" tall, 150 pounds, wearing a hot pink t-shirt, blue denim shorts, sandals, with her hair in a bun.

Coit was last seen Friday afternoon, between approximately 4:00 and 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot of her apartment complex in the area of Southeast 158th Avenue and Stark Street. Coit was supposed to be watching her younger sibling but was reportedly upset about having to babysit. Coit and her family are new to the area so she may not be familiar with the neighborhood.

Officers conducted an extensive area check for Coit but did not locate her on Friday evening.

At this point, no foul play is suspected and police are asking the public to keep an eye out for Coit.

Anyone seeing Coit is asked to call 9-1-1. Anyone with non-emergency information is asked to contact Detective Lori Fonken at 503-823-1081, lori.fonken@portlandoregon.gov.
