On Sunday July 16, 2017, at 5:10 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Northeast 93rd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street.

An alert citizen reported hearing gun shots and was able to provide a description and possible location of the person suspected to have fired a gun.

Officers arrived in the area, located and devised a plan to safely contact the person described by the 9-1-1 caller. As officers spoke with the suspect they observed several items of evidence that were related to firearms. Officers continued to look in the area and located a firearm in the bed of a nearby pick-up truck.

The man, later identified as 18-year-old Bennet P. Miller, was taken into custody. Officers did not locate any damaged property or injured persons as a result of the reported gunfire. The firearm and additional evidence was seized as part of the investigation.

Miller was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Discharging a Firearm in the City. Miller will be arraigned on Monday.
