Aliens, mutants, and robots descend upon OMSI's Empirical Theater for 16-day film fest

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 13, 2017) -- Entertaining. Inspirational. Thought-provoking. Science fiction cinema as both art and insight into popular thinking on the future is celebrated at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry's 2017 Sci-Fi Film Festival. From July 21 -- August 5 the festival will showcase more than 20 of science fiction's most memorable films on the Empirical Theater's giant four-story screen. From 1950's classics such as War of the Worlds to recent favorites like Pacific Rim, a must see in advance of next February's hotly anticipated sequel, the festival has films sure to entice a wide cross section of Sci-Fi film fans.

The festival will serve as the Portland premiere of How to Build a Time Machine, a riveting documentary chronicling the heartfelt stories of a stop-motion animator and a theoretical physicist who set out to build their own time machines. Additionally, the must-see lineup includes a re-mastered 4k version of the acclaimed 1979 Russian post-apocalyptic thriller Stalker and a pairing of the documentary For the Love of Spock, directed by Adam Nemoy, son of the legendary Leonard Nemoy, with Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. For a full list of other can't miss and terrific films in the lineup, please review the schedule below or visit
