Portland Police SERT and CNT Activation for Disturbance (UPDATE)

UPDATE: SERT has taken the subject into custody involved in the incident at the 4500 Block of Northeast Portland Highway. CNT members used multiple methods to contact the subject and get him to surrender to police. The subject exited the residence and was arrested by SERT officers for a warrant; additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

All occupants of the home were contacted and are safe. The area is secure and all residents in the area are no longer required to shelter in place. Traffic on Northeast Portland Highway should resume within the hour.

North Precinct officers will continue to investigate this incident. The identity of the subject will be released when he is booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The Portland Police Bureau Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are responding to the 4500 block of Northeast Portland Highway regarding a disturbance in a residence.

Northeast Portland Highway is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Northeast 42nd Avenue to Northeast 52nd Avenue. Northeast Holman Street is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Northeast 45th Ave and Northeast 52nd Avenue.

The PIO is responding to the scene. All responding media should stage at Northeast Portland Highway and Northeast 42nd Avenue.
