Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash on Southeast 122nd Avenue

On Monday July 3, 2017, at 10:24 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to Southeast 122nd Avenue and Woodward Place on the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a driver.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a male in his 20s suffering from traumatic injuries. He has been transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.

The involved driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation into the crash. This is the third significant crash of the day - two earlier crashes were fatal on Southeast 96th Avenue and Northeast Airport Way.

Southeast 122nd Avenue is closed in both directions from Clinton to Tibbetts Streets.

No additional updates on this crash are expected this evening.

Traffic crashes and fatalities are preventable. The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
