This morning at 9:11 AM Portland Firefighters were called to 1 SW Columbia. Reports indicated that workers were trapped on the side of the 263' tall building. Fire crews arrived and confirmed that two people were trapped on scaffolding that was hanging approximately 15' down from the top. The scaffolding motor malfunctioned and the workers were unable to move up or down.

PF&R's Technical Rescue Team set up a rescue system using ropes and pulley's and then lowered firefighters to the trapped men. The rescuers placed harnesses onto the workers and then pulled them back up onto the roof using the ropes. The men were uninjured and no responders were injured during this rescue. The rescue took approximately 45 minutes.

More images and video will be added to this release as the files become available.
