On Monday July 17, 2017, at 6:51 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 1900 block of Northeast Klickitat Street.

When police arrived at the residence they learned the suspect had forced a door open and entered the occupied home. The homeowner confronted the suspect and the suspect fled. When the suspect ran from the residence, alert neighbors recognized that the suspect did not belong at the home he had just broken into. The neighbors were able to provide the police with a description of the suspect, his last known location and the direction he ran.

Officers, including a K9 team with Police K9 Siggi and a sergeant arrived on scene. A perimeter was established and Police K9 Siggi and his handler led officers to the suspect's location. The suspect was taken into custody in the 3200 block of Northeast 18th Avenue.

Officers and detectives from the Portland Police Bureau's Burglary Detail continue to investigate this case.

The suspect's name is not currently available. When his name is available there will be an update.
