Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Crash in Northeast Portland's Cully Neighborhood

On Tuesday July 4, 2017, at 10:41 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Northeast Cully Boulevard and Killingsworth Street on the report of a traffic crash involving a bicycle rider and a driver.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and began treating the injured bicycle rider who was suffering from traumatic injuries. The bicycle rider has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators.

Due to the severity of the bicycle rider's injuries, the Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation.

The intersection of Cully and Killingsworth will be closed for several hours due to the crash investigation.

No additional updates are expected until later Wednesday morning.

Traffic crashes are preventable. The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
