ALBANY POLICE CONFIRM IDENTITY OF DECEASED MAN FOUND IN SW ALBANY FIELD

News Release from Albany Police
Posted on FlashAlert: July 13th, 2017 9:59 AM
On Friday, 07-07-17 at about 6:30 PM, a combine operator working in a SW Albany rye grass field saw the remains of a body near a Bonneville Power Administration Transmission Tower. Albany Police Officers and Detectives responded to the scene along with a Linn County Deputy Medical Examiner. No identification was found on the body, which had obviously been in the field for an extended period of time. Property belonging to Michael Cowan, 30, of Albany, was found on top of the transmission tower. Yesterday, the State Medical Examiner's Office confirmed via dental records that the body was indeed Michael Cowan. Michael Cowan had been reported to Albany Police as a missing person by his family on 05-23-17. There was no indication of foul play, and it appears a fall from the transmission tower led to Cowan's death. Workers from the Bonneville Power Administration assisted in this investigation.
