On Tuesday June 13, 2017, 32-year-old James Ringrang Ellis, was sentenced to 250 months in prison, pursuant to a plea agreement. Ellis pled guilty to multiple counts of Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, and Sodomy in the First Degree.

Ellis' plea comes as a result of an investigation into a crime spree that started on September 25, 2016, and ended on October 12, 2016, where Ellis robbed 10 businesses. During two of the robberies, Ellis fired his handgun and during one of the robberies Ellis sexually assaulted a victim.

North Precinct officers, Robbery detectives, and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office worked together to bring this case to a resolution.
