Linn County Detectives make Arrest on a Fraud Investigation (Photo)

Linn County Undersheriff Jim Yon reports that on June 28, 2017, his detectives arrested Petreena Marie Clow, 58 years of age from the Crawfordsville area, in connection with a reported fraud. The fraud was reported to the Linn County Sheriff's Office on February 9, 2017 from a business owner in the Crawfordsville area of Linn County. The business owner reported Petreena had been the bookkeeper for approximately four years but recently had been fired after the business came into financial trouble. The business's new bookkeeper realized Petreena had been writing numerous unauthorized checks on the business account.

Detectives worked with the business's new bookkeeper and were able to determine Petreena had fraudulently written 51 unauthorized checks over a three year period totaling $107,325. The investigation revealed some of the checks were addressed to her and others were addressed to a different business she managed.

As a result of the investigation, Petreena Marie Clow was arrested and charged with Racketeering, five (5) counts of Theft I, three (3) counts of Aggravated Theft I, seven (7) counts of Forgery I, two (2) counts of Identity Theft, and five (5) counts of Aggravated Identity Theft.
