On Thursday June 8, 2017, at 2:34 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the area of Southwest Naito Parkway and Porter Street on the report that someone fired a gun outside an apartment building.

Several officers arrived in the area and established containment around the neighborhood to look for the suspect. The suspect was spotted by officers in the vestibule of an apartment building on Southwest Porter Street. The suspect walked out of the vestibule and was contacted by officers where he was taken into custody without incident. A loaded handgun was located in the suspect's pocket.

The suspect, 28-year-old Eric Sokol, was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Discharging a Firearm in the City, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. Sokol will be arraigned on Friday June 9 in Multnomah County Court.
