City seeks applicants for vacancy on Downtown Redevelopment Authority Board

Vancouver, Wash. -- The City of Vancouver is seeking applicants for a vacancy on its Downtown Redevelopment Authority (DRA) Board of Directors. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. Monday, July 17.

The DRA serves as a volunteer citizen advisory body to the Vancouver City Council. It owns the Vancouver Hilton Hotel and Convention Center and is responsible for overseeing its operations, finances and promotion. Board members serve four-year terms and may be eligible for reappointment. There is no residency requirement to serve on the board.

Candidates with broad business experience are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have experience in property management, project financing, financial management and contracts. Additionally, experience in the lodging and restaurant fields would be helpful.

The DRA has no employees. It contracts with an asset management firm specializing in lodging, restaurant and convention facilities to monitor the ongoing operations of the hotel and convention center and advise the board on operational, financial and budget issues. The City's Chief Financial Officer serves as the Executive Director of the DRA, with financial, administrative and legal support provided by City staff.

Regular DRA meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Vancouver City Council Chambers at City Hall. Additional special meetings are advertised and held as needed, typically once or twice per year.
