On Thursday, May 11th at approximately 11:40 p.m., Yamhill County Sheriff's Deputies and rescue personnel responded to a motor vehicle crash on Westside Road near NW Bride Lane in rural McMinnville. The crash was determined to be a head on collision between a 2007 Honda Pilot and a 2008 International utility truck belonging to Portland General Electric.

The driver of the Honda, 56 year old Amity resident Thomas Alan Tasker was pronounced deceased on scene. The initial indication is the death is directly related to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the International utility truck was identified as Mackenzie Richard Grenz, 28 years of age from Hillsboro. He and his passenger, 28 year old Miguel Mena-Encarnacion of Milwaukie, were transported to the hospital by vehicle with non-life threatening injuries.

Due to the nature of the crash, the Yamhill County Multi Agency Traffic Team (MATT) was activated to assist in the investigation.

Initial investigation and witness statements indicate the Honda being driven by Tasker crossed the center line of the roadway prior to the collision. It was also determined that a short time before the crash, a citizen had called dispatch to report Tasker's vehicle as a reckless driver.

The case remains open and under investigation. Anyone having witness information on this case is encouraged to contact Deputy Will Lavish at lavishw@co.yamhill.or.us or at 503-434-7506.
