The suspect, 22-year-old Keith Garrett Matson, was treated and released from a Portland area hospital and booked into the Multnomah County Jail early Monday morning. Matson was charged with Criminal Trespass in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Theft in the Third Degree, and Escape in the Third Degree (two counts). Matson is also being held on two outstanding warrants for Burglary in the First Degree and Attempted Assault in the Fourth Degree.

On Sunday May 7, 2017, at 9:03 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 3800 block of Southwest Arnold Street.

As officers were responding to the scene they received an update that the suspect ran away into the woods near the residence.

Officers arrived in the area and spotted a person matching the suspect's description down a ravine. Officers called to him to come up the hill, which he did, but then he tried to run away and fell back down the hill. Officers went down the hill and took the man into custody and determined he was not seriously injured.

Portland Fire & Rescue is responding to assist with safely getting the suspect up the hill for transportation to jail by police.

The suspect's name and charges will not be available until Monday.
