UPDATE #3 -ARREST - DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN SOUTHEAST PORTLAND'S LENTS NEIGHBORHOOD (PHOTO)

This afternoon, the US Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force arrested 38-year-old Michael Allen Shipley on two outstanding arrest warrants and probable cause for murder in connection with the death of Brian Bruns on Tuesday evening.

Homicide detectives booked Shipley into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Murder as well as the two outstanding warrants. He will be arraigned on Friday.

The person found deceased last night has been identified as 53-year-old Brian Elliot Bruns of Southeast Portland. Late this afternoon, the Oregon State Medical Examiner determined that Bruns died of homicidal violence/stab wounds.

Detectives are not releasing any additional information about the nature of the injuries or weapon used in the stabbing. Detectives are actively pursuing leads but do not have any suspect information to share at this time.

Homicide detectives are in the early stages of an investigation into the death of an adult male in Southeast Portland. The victim appears to be in his 20s to 40s and has not been identified. Detectives are asking that anyone with information call the Police Non-Emergency Line tonight at 503-823-3333, or the Detective Division tomorrow at 503-823-0400.

On Tuesday May 16, 2017, at 8:36 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a disturbance in the 4400 block of Southeast 99th Avenue and that someone was injured in a fight.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a person appearing to be suffering from traumatic injuries. Medical personnel determined that the person was deceased.

Based on preliminary information, Homicide detectives are responding to conduct a death investigation.

There have been no arrests and no additional is information available at this time.

Interested media should stage on the northeast corner of Southeast 99th Avenue and Holgate Boulevard. The Public Information Officer (PIO) is responding to the scene.

99th Avenue is closed to all traffic between Holgate Boulevard and Cora Street.
