Camas, Washington --

At 10:31 a.m., Camas Police and Camas-Washougal Fire Department were dispatched to a single car collision involving an Amtrak passenger train.

The small sedan had two occupants and was traveling southbound on SW Viola, a private roadway with a railroad crossing at SW 5th Ave. This crossing is unsecured and there are stop signs only, no lights or gates.

The Amtrak was carrying 75 passengers and five crew members, heading westbound, enroute to its next stop in Vancouver, Washington. No one on the train was injured.

The driver of the sedan and Vancouver, Washignton resident, 34-year-old Maria G. Gonzalez Torres, was deceased at the scene. Her front seat passenger and 14-year-old son was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for his injuries.

The collision is being investigated with the help of Clark County Sheriff's Office, Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad and Amtrak officials.
