BEAVERTON, Ore. -- This Sunday, May 28, the sixth annual Rose Festival Half Marathon will take place in Beaverton. The city is sponsoring the marathon for the first time this year, in partnership with the Beaverton School District, Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, and the Portland Rose Festival.


This year's route will begin and end at Southridge High School, and will weave through five neighborhoods, Old Town Beaverton, and along Fanno Creek Greenway Trail, taking runners on a scenic tour of the city.


It's not too late to sign up to run or volunteer for race day. To register as a runner or volunteer, visit www.BeavertonOregon.gov/run.


Street Closures
Drivers and pedestrians in Beaverton on Sunday should expect minor delays near the race route. To minimize impact, roadways along the route will be temporarily closed to traffic and then reopened as runners make their way to the finish line. Alternative transportation routes will also be posted. Closure times listed are estimates:

* Hall/Allen, 7:55-8:55 a.m.
* Lombard/5th, 7:55-8:55 a.m.
* 5th/Alger, 8-9:12 a.m.
* 5th/Western, 8-9:12 a.m.
* Western/Arctic, 8:05-9:29 a.m.
* Allen/Scholls, 8:10-9:46 a.m.
* Denney/Fanno Creek, 8:15-10:05 a.m.
* Hall/Creekside, 8:20-10:20 a.m.
* Murphy/Greenway, 8:20-10:20 a.m.
* Brockman/130th, 8:25-10:37 a.m.
