PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED ON NE MLK - MAJOR CRASH TEAM RESPONDING TO INVESTIGATE

On Friday May 12, 2017, at 4:29 p.m., North Precinct and Traffic Division officers responded to the report that a driver struck a pedestrian on Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Union Court and Marine Drive.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the adult male pedestrian who was suffering from traumatic injuries. He was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment but did not survive.

The involved driver has remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Northeast MLK Jr. Boulevard will be closed in both directions, between Marine Drive and Union Court, for several hours due to the crash investigation. Drivers seeking to access I-5 should seek alternate access points to the south, or from Marine Drive only.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to investigate.
