DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN DOWNTOWN PORTLAND - DECEASED FELL OR JUMPED FROM BUILDING

On Saturday May 27, 2017, at 10:53 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the 700 block of Southwest Jefferson Street on the report of a pedestrian hit by a driver. As officers were responding, a caller to 9-1-1 reported that the person jumped from a building and landed on the pavement and that there were no cars involved.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a person who was clearly deceased. Officers are working to determine which floor the person came from in a nearby building and if the person fell or jumped out of the window. At this point in the investigation, there are no signs of foul play.

Southwest Jefferson Street, between Broadway and Park Avenue, is closed due to this death investigation.
