BEAVERTON, Ore. -- American Legion Post 124 will host its annual Memorial Day event on Monday, May 29, at Veterans Memorial Park in Beaverton.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a performance of patriotic music by the American Legion Post 185 band. The West Coast Ravens will perform a missing pilot flyover at 10:55 a.m. The program will begin at 11 a.m., and will include the posting of the colors by the Beaverton Police Department Honor Guard, guest speakers, memorial wreath placement, POW/MIA ceremony, and more.

"Memorial Day is often referred to as the official start of summer," said Beaverton City Councilor and American Legion Post 124 second vice commander Lacey Beaty, who will also speak at the event. "This year, it's more important than ever to recognize those men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of this incredible nation. Please take time to recognize and reflect on the actions taken by a few so that most others are able to enjoy time with friends and family on a weekend such as this."
