Child and mother injured in early morning shooting

GRESHAM, Ore.-- On May 22 around 4:30 a.m., Gresham Police responded to the 1300 block of NE 183 Ave. on a report that 9-year-old boy and his 29-year-old mother had been shot. Upon arriving at the location, police quickly located and identified both victims. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. An update on their condition is not available at this time.
The East County Major Crimes Team, assisted by members of the East Metro Gang Enforcement Team, is currently investigating the shooting. Although no one is in custody at this time, investigators believe this is not a random act of violence nor that the public is in danger.
