Body of Missing Kelso Man Located in Cowlitz River

BODY OF MISSING KELSO MAN LOCATED IN COWLITZ RIVER

Kelso - The body of a man suffering from Alzheimer's was located in the Cowlitz River near Carnival Market this morning. At approximately 7 a.m. Sheriff's deputies received a call that 77 year old William Collins who suffers from Alzheimer's was missing from his residence in the 4600 block of Pleasant Hill Rd., Kelso where he lives with his wife.

Upon family members discovering Mr. Collins missing, the family had initiated a search and located the man's vehicle along the river not far from his home. As the Sheriff's Office called out Search and Rescue assistance, several family friends launched boats to search the river area downstream from where the vehicle was located.

Search and Rescue auxiliary communications drone pilots also responded and were just set to launch the drone when at approximately 9:50 a.m.the victim's body was located by family friends floating in the river near Carnival Market.

The body was turned over to the Cowlitz County Coroner.
