AUTO-PEDESTRIAN FATALITY IN TIGARD UNDER INVESTIGATION

On the evening of May 21, 2017, a 9-1-1 call sent Tigard Police to an auto-pedestrian crash. The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the 12900 block of SW Pacific Highway in Tigard. The victim, Norma Alicia Mendoza of Gresham, was struck by a northbound vehicle while attempting to cross Pacific Highway near Frewing St. The 49 year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators noted no signs of driver impairment.

Northbound Pacific Highway in the area of the crash was closed for approximately 5 hours while members of the Washington County CART investigated. Police do not yet know whether the victim was in a crosswalk when struck. No citations have been issued.
