On Thursday May 11, 2017, at 6:43 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Northeast Wistaria Drive on the report that an unknown man entered the home and locked himself in a bathroom.

Officers arrived and spoke with the residents who told police they did not know the man and believed he may have entered through an open garage door.

Officers established a perimeter around the residence as additional officers, including officers with Enhanced Crisis Intervention Team (ECIT) training, responded to assess the situation.

Officers established communication with the man, later identified as 29-year-old Aaron Lavell Reed-Jones, and convinced him to come out of the bathroom. Reed-Jones was exhibiting signs of paranoia and confusion while talking to officers but eventually opened the door and surrendered to police without incident.

Reed-Jones was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Burglary in the First Degree.
