In the early morning hours of Friday, April 28, 2017 members of the Fairview Police Department, assisted by the East Multnomah County SWAT, served a community complaint-driven search warrant at the 2200 block of NE 201st Avenue in Fairview. The townhouse-style residence had been reported by neighbors over the last six months as being an active hub location for people to use and sell drugs as well as store stolen property. When the search warrant was served, there were no people in the residence and no arrests were made. Fairview Police Officers conducted a thorough search of the residence and found evidence of drug activity. The investigation in this case will be continuing.
The residence was found to be in a state of extensive disrepair. The electricity service to the residence has been shut off. Residences such as this, often commonly referred to as "flop houses," can be a sources of general criminal activity, drug usage, and cause of community concern. It is important when neighbors have concerns about this type of hub of activity that they notify their local law enforcement. It is helpful when police have detailed information about the potentially criminal activity that is causing concern. The more information neighbors can provide to law enforcement, the better the chances of accurately discerning what type of activity is occurring and what lawful remedies may be available to law enforcement.
While this case remains under active investigation, further details are not available at this time.
