Update:

The investigation into the shooting incident that occurred on December 15 ,2015 is still ongoing. The two year old child is still in a Portland area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Detectives are continuing to investigate and interview all parties who were involved or witnessed the incident. At this time the uncle of the child, Luke Andrew Bowman, 24 years old of Molalla, has not been charged with a crime.

In the initial investigation it appears Mr. Bowman was cleaning a handgun. He pulled the trigger on the firearm and there was a live round in the chamber. The bullet went through a coffee cup then into the cheek of the child and out the other. The bullet then lodged into a wall at the home.

Detectives are reviewing all of the evidence and will be forwarding the case onto the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office.

On Friday December 25th just after 11:00 a.m. the Sheriff's Office responded to the 30700 block of S. Marian St near Molalla. The residence called 911 to report a shooting. A two year old female child had been shot in the face with a handgun.

Fire personnel and deputies responded to the scene. The female was taken by Life Flight to a Portland area hospital. She is expected to live and is undergoing surgery.

Clackamas County Detectives responded to the scene and interviewed all involved parties. The investigation showed the child had been shot accidentally while her uncle was cleaning the firearm. The uncle, who lives at the residence, was identified as Luke Andrew Bowman 24 years old.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time and the family is cooperating with detectives.
