Traffic investigation results in arrest in serious hit and run crash

On April 3, 2015 at 4:49 a.m., Ronald Galey of British Columbia was driving northbound on I-405 near the Burnside overpass when his Dodge Truck was struck from behind by a Ford Mustang. The truck spun off the road and rolled over. The crash caused Mr. Galey injuries of such a serious nature that they nearly proved fatal.

The Traffic Investigation Unit responded to investigate. They were able to obtain search warrants for the vehicle and other materials. Through this investigation they were able to determine that the suspect vehicle had been traveling northbound on I-405 at speeds in excess of 125 mph and was traveling over 100 mph when it collided with Mr. Galey's truck. They were also able to use DNA evidence.

Investigators were able to identify 30-year-old Jacob John Korfhage as the driver of the Mustang. On December 30, 2015 Korfhage turned himself in and was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Hit and Run - injury, Assault II, Hit and Run - property, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief II.
