Heavy rain and strong winds continue to create hazardous situations in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. The Red Cross is opening a shelter at the Vernonia High School. The address of the shelter is 1000 Missouri Ave, Vernonia, OR 97064.

The shelter at Clackamas Park Friends Church in Milwaukie remains open tonight. In addition, a shelter/reception center opened this afternoon at Mt. Scott Community Center in southeast Portland is welcoming residents in the area around Johnson Creek who may want to seek higher ground. Only the Mt. Scott reception center is accepting pets; Multnomah County Animal Services is available as a resource.

The Red Cross Emergency app offers instant access to weather alerts, lifesaving information, and ways to contact family and friends during an emergency or disaster. The app also provides first-aid basics, water safety, shelter locations and detailed disaster prevention/safety tips.
