Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a leaking tank car in N Portland on Tuesday, December 22nd, at 11:20 am. The tank car was reported to be leaking Anhydrous Ammonia, which is a pungent gas that can cause breathing difficulties and death depending on the concentration. Portland Fire & Rescue's Hazardous Materials Response Team assisted NRC Environmental in determining that the leak was minor and that minimal risk existed due to the amount of gas leaking. The rail car was returned to the owners facility where the leak was fixed.

There were no injuries or any damage to the environment.
