HOOD RIVER, ORE - On December 29, 2015, just before 10 a.m., the Hood River County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible missing person with suspicious circumstances at a residence located at 4390 Wooded Acres Dr. in Hood River County. Reported missing was 48 year old Wendy Hildreth of Hood River. Investigators discovered Tuesday morning that she had not shown up for work and was known to be punctual.

Further investigation revealed that Ms. Hildreth had recently sought a restraining order from her husband, Michael Hildreth, 58, also of Hood River. Additionally, court records indicated that the couple was in the process of divorcing.

Detectives and deputies soon discovered blood outside of the residence. A search of the residence and surrounding property ensued. Michael Hildreth was found deceased of an apparent suicide in a detached shop building near the house.

Evidence recovered from the Family Man Staging Area scene, where the female's body was discovered on December 28, 2015, was consistent with evidence discovered at the home of Wendy Hildreth. A Subaru was located in a carport that had traces of blood both inside and out. Detectives could see that parts from the Subaru were missing. Investigators had recovered parts consistent with the missing parts at the Riordan Hill Drive crime scene Monday night.

The Sheriff's Office has now confirmed that the woman found at Family Man Staging Area was Wendy Hildreth. Following an autopsy Tuesday morning, in Clackamas, it was determined that Wendy Hildreth's death was a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

Late Tuesday afternoon, the Oregon State Police Forensics Lab was on site processing the crime scene at the Wooded Acres residence. The investigation is ongoing; however all evidence points towards a case of murder/suicide. The Hildreth's children have been accounted for and notified of the circumstances.

"This is an absolute tragedy for our community", said Sheriff Matt English. "Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the Hildreth's children and family".

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone that may have information about the murder or the Hildreth's recent relationship to contact the Hood River County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at 541 387-7077
