At 3:42 this afternoon Hillsboro Fire and Rescue was dispatched by Washington County 9-1-1 to a commercial fire at 1679 SE Enterprise Circle in Hillsboro. Upon arrival the crew of Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Engine 2 found heavy smoke coming from beneath the eaves of the single level wood structure. The building was under construction and unoccupied. Five construction workers on site had safely evacuated. Due to the extensive smoke and strong wind a second alarm was called. Additional firefighters from Hillsboro Fire and Rescue, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Washington County Fire District 2 assisted in extinguishing the blaze. Within thirty- minutes firefighters had the fire under control. The majority of the damage was contained to the interior of the structure. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators from the Hillsboro Fire Department are on the scene interviewing witnesses and working to determine the cause. There is no estimate of damages at this time

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue reminds you to evacuate at the first sign of smoke or fire and call 9-1-1 once you are safely outside.
